I don’t know if I was dancing or singing this summer when a passerby said, “You must really love your job,” and my answer was obvious, “Well yes, but mostly I love life.”           

The glass is always half full in my world, I am positive, and upon reflection I understand just how important my sense of place is for my happiness. My place is Mt. Washington Valley.           

I am in my ninth year of teaching in the Valley and consider day hikes and river paddles in every direction more precious than gold. These are the resources that make me rich. My tent stakes are planted, my foundation has set.          

Teaching has allowed me to meet hundreds of families belonging to our community and these are my people: honest and hardworking with a touch of New England independence. These are the people who keep me rooted here. I can depend on my neighbors.           

The care in our community is evident: I remember the candle light vigil in Schouler Park to honor surviving family members of 9/11, my first Halloween at the Community Center with my son still wearing diapers, the hysterics of the annual Mud Bowl, and I can see little kids running around Cranmore at a recent outdoor concert.           

Real estate is a new venture for me, but treating people well and providing true service is not. Please remember, whether buying, selling, or relocating to this area, the center of the equation is you and your needs.
